When I was invited to electro brunch at Gaucho, Birmingham, it promised a day of amazing food and drink. It didn’t disappoint.
The venue is absolutely stunning, golden and sparkly and extremely classy. Tables both large and small scatter the restaurant, perfect for small groups and couples alike.
It’s cosy without being small and the lighting and live Dj creates a relaxed atmosphere. The staff are just simply incredible. Friendly and attentive, always looking for an empty glass or an enquiring gaze, without being intrusive in the slightest.
The electro brunch is priced at £49.95 and includes unlimited dishes and drinks (but one at a time please!) It includes a choice of 11 dishes, plus an amuse-bouche of medialuna and a dessert of pancakes. You get two hours to try as much as you like. Below is the menu:
The menu is very varied and every single dish we tried was fantastic.
We were welcomed with the first of many Bloody Mary’s and shown to our table, under a sparking tree of lights.
We tried the smashed avocado on toast, a lovely citrus tang for the tastebuds with a smoked bacon topping.
Steak and egg, cooked perfectly pink and seasoned with something similar to chimichurri. It was recommended by the waiters and was a delight.
The salt beef benedict, a Gaucho twist on the usual eggs benedict was probably my favourite of the lot. Salt beef on a bed of English breakfast muffin. Delicious! All the flavours melted together to create a taste sensation.
The salmon benedict was the last of plates we sampled. Oh my word again it was amazing. The smooth hollandaise sauce was rich and creamy without overpowering the delicate taste of the smoked salmon. The egg popped perfectly for the yolk to run everywhere.
To finish, I devoured the banana pancakes with maple syrup. Again, beautifully done and I’m gutted that the photo doesn’t do it justice!
