This is a massive bastardisation of the traditional Spaghetti Bolognese. I love italian food but I also love adding loads of stuff to traditional recipes and seeing what happens.
I used to make this loads, and have always had a good reaction to it so it can’t be too bad! I cooked this for my friend tonight. His grandad is Italian so I warned him that it wasn’t typically Italian, however he really enjoyed it. Thumbs up!
Serves 4
Ingredients
250g minced beef (5% fat)
400g tinned chopped tomatoes
1 tbsp tomato purée
2 peppers
2 onions
1 tsp Maggi liquid seasoning
1 tsp soy sauce
1 tsp mixed spice
1 tsp mixed herbs
3 cloves garlic
Thumb size piece ginger
2 glasses of wine (one for the sauce, and one to drink ?)
Method
Fry mince, onion, garlic and ginger together until browned.
Add peppers, maggi seasoning, soy sauce, tomato purée, mixed herbs, mixed spice and wine until the peppers have softened.
Add the chopped tomatoes and cook on a low heat for 45-60 mins
