Notts Street Food Club Gin And Jazz Night

I absolutely love Notts Street Food Club. I've been a few times both for lunch and dinner and the choice of cuisine is always fantastic. Open Friday to Sunday every week, it showcases amazing independent street food brands and alcoholic beverages, and seats 150 punters.

I admit that I'm usually drawn to the resident stand, Homeboys. The Asian fusion choices are a firm favourite for me and it's usually my first stop.

On Friday night I, and a host of other bloggers were invited by Intu to the Gin & Jazz evening. It was a fabulous night! On arrival we were greeted by Sammie and the team and handed drinks tokens and a food token. I loved the fact we were able to choose our own meal from any of the vendors. Being dairy free I sometimes struggle and it was nice to wander around chatting to all the stalls before choosing.

We had our own bar and bartender, and a large table reserved for the night. It was fantastic as the venue filled up very quickly and we would've struggled to get to seat later on in the evening. The bartender was lovely and did everything with a smile!

The gin menu featured both UK and Foreign gins, my fave being the Langleys no8 gin, with grapefruit, basil leaves and tonic.

The choices on offer this weekend were:

Clean Cut Kitchen: a healthy alternative to fast food, serving protein boxes. You could choose between chicken, falafel or halloumi, and then add bases, sides and sauces.

The Chefs Cottage: a jerk BBQ stand, with chicken wraps, veggie wraps and chutneys.

Vietcentric: a Vietnamese stand selling BBQ pork, pho ga and spring and summer rolls.

Homeboys: Asian fusion delights.

I went out of my comfort zone and had BBQ pork and vermicelli noodles from 'Vietcentric'. Oh my goodness these were good. I was given a little pot of sauce to pour over my dish, however I dipped the first forkful into it just in case it was too hot for me to handle. After the first forkful I dumped the whole lot of the sweet, slightly spicy sauce over my noodles and pork. I was also given the tastiest spring roll jam packed full of veggies, and a summer roll filled with shrimp and veggies. The accompanying sauce was sweet and sour and full of flavour. I would love the recipe to this sauce!

The jazz musicians were a great soundtrack to the evening. Also thank you to the Intu Victoria for the lovely goodie bags filled with amazing products to try! It was full of laughter, friends and fun. I can't wait to return!

Thanks for looking at couchmagpie.com the other day. I’m not blogging so much about food anymore (apart from a pile of tavernas in Santorini) but I was lucky enough to go to the Hammer & Pincers in Wymeswold again recently. They have a MASSIVE list of gin and the food is incredible (it’s pricey mind).
