So a weekend of good food and good company was on the cards as Eleanor and I headed to York. We wanted to try as many good places in the 3 days we were there and so a quick Tripadvisor check was needed.
At number 7 on Tripadvisor was Source, in the centre, just by the Jorvik Centre. We arrived at 7pm with no reservation and the place was buzzing. They were also fully booked (sob). However the staff being lovely people, they asked if we wouldn’t mind sitting on some bar stools just by the side of the bar. Having already peaked at the menu, we readily agreed.
Source offer so much choice, from slow cooked meats and superfoods, to veggie options. There is honestly something for everyone. It is like 3 different restaurants serving 3 separate menus, all seemingly prepared with lots of love.
We started with drinks. I had a gorgeous Slingsby Rhubarb gin and fever tree tonic, Eleanor opted for a dark rum and coke.
On to food. I went for the Pork burger, with bbq sauce, pickles and chips. I loved it! The pork was juicy and the chips were ace! Possibly some of the loveliest pulled pork I have ever tasted. I ate it quicker than any other meal, but was gutted when it ended. I was full, but it was so good I was tempted to eat another!
Eleanor went for the Quinoa salad with grilled halloumi, and added pulled pork on the side. Again it was delicious and we were both stuffed with clean plates at the end.
I would definitely go back time and time again to this place. The staff were lovely and so accommodating, the vibe was fantastic even though it was early, the place was packed, and the food was amazing. Thank you guys for a fantastic time!
So happy to hear you liked Source. I love it here! I actually went for my birthday last year. They have so many vegan friendly options, I sometimes get overwhelmed these days if a place has more than two or three things I can eat x
